Does Orchard Bank Credit cards really improve your credit rating?
I have just been approved for a Gold card from Orchard Bank. This is a secured card, i didn't have to put $200 down. The reason i have been thinking about using this is i need to improve my credit rating! I have had some problems in the bast due to lack of work. Has anyone had any luck with this company? Has anyone had their credit rating improve over time with this company?

- I have an unsecured card for Orchard and they do report to all three major credit bureaus...so yes it is improving my credit. The same thing should be true with a secured card. As long as you are keeping your balance below 50% of the available credit available and you are making on time payments it will help your credit over time.
- Yes, it can improve using this card if you use it wisely. They do report to the credit bureaus. Just make a couple small purchases each month and pay it off when you receive the billing statement. Over time, you will see your score improve. It's not a quick fix.
- You are talking 200 dollars in charges and the card being unsecured. I have 2 orchard cards and my rating has gone fron low mid 400 to low 600 in 2 years. To answer your question yes it does help it is just you have to pay to get the card. Thing is it only helps as lobg as you pay timely payments and also pay a bit more than minimum.
- As you can tell from the consensus, it's official: Orchard Really does help. I have one myself that I use for everyday purchases. Although I was approved for a regular unsecured card, I had started with a secured card, and I built the limit up by adding to the deposit. I managed to get it up to about $7,500. I knew that I would get the deposit back becuase I paid either more than the minimum or in full on time every month. It served as a springboard to help me get another card with an even higher limit. So, whatever you do, boost that limit when you can, keep the balance low, and pay on time every month!
- I used Orchard bank after my bankruptcy and it helped me a lot. Use it every month for every day purchases like gas and food, keep your balance below 30% of your limit every month and pay before the due date and you will be fine. I did this and after about 10 months I got a much better card and did the exact same thing with the new one and 10 months later my score had increased over 100-points. If you get a better card after a few months, do not cancel your Orchard card, continue to use it since a full 35% of your score is based on payment history.
- This will help you... Just make sure you buy small things like gas, food, or pay a bill.. and when the bill comes pay it off.. I would say after 6 months you should see a improvement..
- I had no credit history or score as I have paid cash for everything for the last 17 years. When I was on a trip and had to hunt for a motel to stay at that would take cash I decided it was time to get back in the credit game. I applied at the Orchard Bank site and the card that I was approved for was the Silver secured card, 200.00 limit. I thought this was very low but sent the 200 in anyways. I've had this card for 16 months now and have never charged more that $55 a month which I pay on time and in full every month. I've called the number on the back of the card for a limit increase and to switch over to an unsecured card, no luck there. Their e-mail back to me says Orchard Bank does periodical reviews and the review for mine isn't due up yet? But having the card does help your score. I applied for a personal loan at my bank and they obtained my FICO score and it was surprisingly high. In the meantime I applied for AM EX Blue and was approved there, $2,500 limit. These inquiries were spread out over a year and a half. The orchard Bank card can raise your score if you don't mind paying the 36 dollar annual fee, making payments on time and keeping usage 30 percent or less.
